Superior Nutrition
by Herbert M. Shelton

Willow Publishing, Inc., 197 pp.
Review by David Klein

I have said it many times: "Superior Nutrition is simply the most authoritative book on nutrition ever written by the greatest health scientist of all time.” Dr. Shelton speaks plain dietary truth, at times peppered with bombastic flair, in the wholistic context of the health science system called Natural Hygiene, which demonstrates a most accurate understanding of human physiology and our life’s needs.

The book’s 31 masterful chapters are chocked full of “how to” information and answers to common questions. The notion that food and nutrition are the same thing is a “fallacy” he says, “that needs to be discarded.” He continues, “It is one thing to eat an abundance of good food, it is quite another thing to have good nutrition.” He goes on to teach us that nutrition is a “process of growth, development and invigoration.” And he gives us a gamut of tools for mastering the art of nourishing our bodies for superior health and longevity. Standout topics covered include:

• the nutritional basis of life • life is more than food • digestive physiology and how to eat for perfect digestion • how to enjoy eating fruits, nuts and vegetables • organic vs. inorganic • babies should not be fed starches • seasonal meal planning • dogma of dietary “cures” • common fallacies about protein and how much to eat • nutritional deficiency diseases • why to beware of “super-foods” • fasting for health restoration

I recommend this book above all others on the subject of nutrition. If you study and embrace it, I guarantee you will become an expert in nutrition and it will change and extend your life - yes, all of that from this one book!
