Primal Mothering
by Hygeia Halfmoon, Ph.D.

Maul Brothers, San Diego, California, 180 pages
Review by Frederick Patenaude

This is the read that will forever change your conceptions on one of the most important issue of all times: raising children. How exited would you be if you were to learn that it is possible to have unassisted painless birthing? That children can be free of all illnesses without vaccines and medicines? That for raising superior children, it might be a good idea not to send them to school? I am not a woman, yet Primal Mothering reached my heart in a way that no other book on parenting could. I highly recommend it to all women, men and children.

Primal Mothering is not a book just about how to raise children naturally. It's also not a book all about breast feeding. Nor is it a book on how to raise kids on raw food diet. It touches all those topics in a very detailed way, but the book remains the story of a gallant woman who literally fought our medically indoctrinated ignorant society to raise her kids the way she felt was right.

I know some people will read those lines and think to themselves that this book is not for them. "Well, I'm a man...” “Well, I don't intend to have children...” Well, I say that for all the reasons that you think you don't need this book, you DO need it! You need this book especially if you're a man, and especially if you don't intend to have children.

The other day I was riding in a city bus in San Diego. There was a family with their children. The woman had this ugly piece of meat sandwich in her hand and was trying to feed it to her innocent boy. He didn't want to eat. Yet she was forcing it down his throat, as he was crying and crying. At that time I had a copy of Primal Mothering with me, and I thought about giving it to the mother. But I didn't do it. I was scared. When I came back home I cried, for days. Months later I'm still shaken by this failure. Now I realize that Primal Mothering is the book that you want to get a box of, to give to all your friends, so they’ll know when their infant refuses cooked meat and cries it's not the child’s fault, Primal Mothering gets my highest possible recommendation.
